Earlier this year, David’s Bridal ran a “Dress Your Wedding” campaign with a grand prize of a $5,000 gift certificate. To enter the contest, brides-to-be used the virtual tool on davidsbridal.com to create their wedding and share it virally. Entrants were also asked to write a short story about how they planned to add flair and personal style to their special day.
Second place winner, Weslee Cheung from Vancouver, WA submitted a very creative story and corresponding Dress Your Wedding picture. She and her fiancé originally planned a destination wedding in Hawaii, but decided instead to plan “A Destination Wedding At Home” with an elegant beach theme. Check out Weslee’s winning entry below, along with her first blog post about her experience at David’s Bridal. Please check back frequently for updates.

It was very exciting for my fiancé Vicheka and I to visit David’s Bridal in Beaverton, Oregon today. When we walked in the store we were greeted immediately and felt very welcomed. This was our first time in any bridal store and we were definitely excited. Especially because we felt honored to be asked to attend a small ceremony where we were presented a $2,500 gift certificate, our reward that we won as a runner-up in the David’s Bridal “Dress Your Wedding” contest. The staff in the store was excited for us as well which made us eager to stay a while and browse around the store. We fell in love with many displays that were color coordinated and immediately started planning our bridal party’s attire. I thought it was so cute when my fiancé started to give his opinions about some of the dresses and colors. You don’t often find grooms in bridal stores with their brides picking out attire for their attendees. For me, our wedding all of a sudden became very real. Our wedding will be taking place in our home state California and I look forward to my appointment in Modesto where my entire bridal party and I plan to do our dress shopping. Planning a wedding over a distance will be tough but the staff was very supportive and provided helpful hints. The plan is for me to try on dresses with my bridal party in California and once we have everything all picked out, to purchase them in Oregon (YAY NO TAX!). Once the dresses are ordered I can have them sent to California so I don’t have to worry about traveling with any garments. David’s Bridal genuinely wanted to make my shopping experience as stress free as possible. I can’t wait to go try on dresses! California here I come!
